Workshops
Three workshops will be held in parallel, you can follow two out of three workshops. You can inform us about which workshops you want to take part in when you register.
1. Have a break
Breaks are an important part of effective working: you change contexts, clear your mind and fuel your engine. Additionally, breaks provide an opportunity to interact with people outside your usual circle to benefit from cross-pollination over traditional organizational boundaries or simply to get inspired. In this workshop we will explore, and experience, ways to trigger conversations between co-workers during their breaks. As one example, we introduce Buzzcuit: a conversation starter in the coffee corner that displays streams of information about co-workers and projects.
2. Co-create
Working together is sometimes more effective than working individually and sharing and discussing results. Multi-touch surfaces allow multiple users to interact with an application simultaneously changing the character of the computer from a solitary used device to a more social device. This change offers new and yet unexplored possibilities to work and create together. This workshop uses a prototype of a multitouch wall and aims at getting hands-on experience with this technology and exploring possibilities of using such a co-create device.
3. Nomadic working/ decision making in virtual worlds
Connectedness and staying in touch are big issues for the nomadic worker. The need to bring your work-environment wherever you go arises. Virtual worlds can fulfill this need but do they really offer what the nomadic worker need? The answer to this question of course lies in exploring virtual worlds. Next to virtual worlds, context aware applications that can ‘sense’ and ‘act’ on the context of its users or itself offer opportunities in this field. In this workshop, some of the opportunities here will be shown and discussed. Go to registration to register for The Professional Playground of the Future and select the workshops you want to join.
