You personal (net)workspace

The Social Workspace is first and foremost a personalized space where you can organize your work: here you have access to your e-mail, to-do lists, most frequently read RSS feeds, the “hot” documents you are working on, but this is also the place where you stay in touch with your network, both professional and social.

Social workspaceThe Social Workspace acknowledges that much of our work does not happen in isolation and that being able to interact with others can greatly accelerate our thought processes. However, it also acknowledges that staying in sync with your network should not keep you from getting work done: keeping your network updated should be as lightweight as possible and ideally be a result of your normal work activities.

Just like an IGoogle page or a MySite page on Microsoft SharePoint, the Social Workspace allows you to select and combine those services that match your personal working needs. The Social Workspace integrates via open protocols with leading online social networks such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Myspace: you can configure it to share for instance the tags you use, your bookmarks, blogposts, latest pictures and short descriptions of your current activities. This way, you have a low-threshold way to keep your network informed and possibly trigger conversations. Knowing what your network is doing happens via a non-intrusive feed that shows the information that is published by your network. This feed can be configured to match your personal preferences and to avoid unwanted distractions as well as information overload.
